ITC Leads the way in WorldStar Awards 2023

ITC’s Packaging Business scores FIVE WorldStar Awards – the preeminent global awards in packaging. This is the highest number of awards won by a single India company this year, and an unprecedented achievement for a packaging company. We battled it out with over 300 contestants from across 34 countries.

One of our prizes came in the Foods category, and the other four top awards in the Beverages category. Of these, three awards were in the Sustainable Packaging domain.

One was an ultra-high barrier recyclable laminate for a coffee bean pack to protect the contents against moisture, vapor and oxygen. This recyclable laminate manufactured with green energy is one of the eco-friendliest beverage packaging solutions.

We also developed an environment-friendly paper-based tea envelope bag with a 100% biodegradable coating that provides a good alternative for multilayer plastic bags. The compostable sealant, called BioSeal, is a patented ITC innovation!

The third award focussed intensively on sustainability was an eco-friendly, leak and spill proof paperboard-based pack for an ice-cream maker to replace their plastic tub, embodying the Reduce-Reuse-Recycle tenet. This is a classic example of our plastic intensity reduction efforts.

In Beverages, we worked with two alcobev giants on the premiumization of their packs. For one, we revamped a pack with a variety of printing technologies to make value-additions - drip off-gloss texture, multi-coloured hot foil stampings, and intricate embossing to represent the brand concept. This new pack contains two pasted and folded flaps to conceal the manufacturing joint and to give the pack a flawless continuity across panels. The result is attractive, providing consumers an elevated experience.

Another preimmunized carton for an alcoholic beverage was inspired by the elements of nature and curated to give the consumer an elegant experience. The package has the finest print reproduction and carries copper foiling on a virgin board to produce a wooden texture, while quintessential graphic elements depict the qualities of the beverage. The red trust seal represents brand integrity and the auto-lock bottom profile and the neck-holder sleeve enable easy fitment and securely holding of the bottle inside the pack.

These wins are a testament to our commitment to excellence and to the purpose-led innovation that has made us a future-tech enterprise. The sustainable packaging solutions recognized at the WorldStar Awards are also a reflection of our dedication to environmental health and responsibility, as we journey ahead in the mission to build a climate positive enterprise.
