ITC’s Packaging and Printing Business’ (PPB) Haridwar unit won the ‘Gold Award’ in the CII-Northern Region Green Practices Award-2022 and was also declared the winner in ‘Best Practices for Water Conservation’ category for Large Industries.
ITC-PPB Haridwar delivered impressive reduction of 18.1% in its specific water consumption (water consumed per ton of production) and 35.4% reduction in specific hazardous waste generation (haz. waste per ton of production). The unit also achieved over 3.7% reduction in its specific electricity consumption and 1.5% in its specific thermal energy consumption during the assessment period. The unit also collaborated with our customers & downstream supply partners on various innovative Big Bang as well as incremental measures taken in-house during the assessment period across all its production lines based on the 3R philosophy of Reduce-Reuse-Recycle.
The “Green Practices Awards” are flagship competition organized by CII Northern Region to promote industries towards proactive adoption of green practices, enhance environmental performance and reward pioneers with continuous improvement in Energy Efficiency, Water Conservation, Waste management (especially Hazardous waste management) and minimal Environmental impact by instilling a sense of cooperative competition.
ITC PPB Haridwar unit also recently commissioned a large rooftop solar plant to increase the share of renewable energy. This is a significant step towards accelerated adoption of renewable sources as part of ITC’s Sustainability 2.0 targets. The unit has taken several initiatives round the year in furthering the goal of LiFE (Lifestyle For Environment) like Energy conservation awareness drives, Sustainability Pledge sessions, etc. conducted with the workforce to help imbibe the mindset of ‘Green Practices’ in all aspects of their lives.
The jury appreciated the commendable work being done by ITC-PPB team to further Sustainability & Green Practices and rewarded the aforementioned accolades to the unit for the same.
